Little Roots Kitchen - PreK-1st Grade
Little Roots Kitchen introduces young children to the joy of food discovery through simple tastings, hands-on exploration, and story-driven lessons. Designed for early learners, the program nurtures curiosity, confidence, and positive relationships with food from the very first bite.
The curriculum includes engaging learning pathways, such as Where Food Comes From: Safety, Senses & Stories, which support foundational skills such as listening, observing, counting, and following directions. Through playful activities and age-appropriate storytelling, children explore healthy foods while building early nutrition awareness, sensory development, and classroom readiness.
The Flavor Journey Studio (Grades 2–3)
The Flavor Journey Studio supports students in grades 2–3 as they deepen their understanding of food, culture, and health while building confidence in the kitchen. Through hands-on cooking, guided tastings, and interactive lessons, students strengthen their nutrition knowledge and explore how food connects people, communities, and traditions.
The program includes two core learning units: Connecting Food to Cultures: Around the World & Our Local Community and Food Labels, Advertising & Nutrients. These units introduce students to global and local foodways while developing early critical-thinking skills around food choices. Students learn how to recognize key nutrients and understand how advertising can influence what we eat.
Using simple, age-appropriate recipes and safe kitchen practices, children gain confidence preparing healthy foods while discovering how culture, access, and health shape our plates. By centering food as both nourishment and storytelling, The Flavor Journey Studio helps students build lifelong skills and positive relationships with cooking, wellness, and community.
Gourmet Kids Academy (Grades 4–5)
Gourmet Kids Academy engages students in grades 4–5 in deeper, more meaningful food learning that connects cooking, environmental awareness, and culinary skill-building. Through hands-on instruction and inquiry-based exploration, students examine how food moves through our environment while developing confidence in more advanced kitchen techniques.
The program includes two core learning units: Environmental & Physical Connections to Food and Culinary Skills, Careers & Recipe Creation. These units introduce students to topics such as food waste, sustainability, and the journey food takes from source to plate. Students prepare multi-step recipes, refine foundational cooking techniques, and explore STEAM-related culinary careers.
As a culminating experience, students collaborate to create an original class recipe, applying concepts of flavor, nutrition, and creativity. By blending environmental literacy with culinary practice, Gourmet Kids Academy empowers students to think critically about food systems, develop practical life skills, and see cooking as both a science and a pathway to future opportunities.

The Food Literacy Project
Our high school culinary curriculum is designed to equip students with practical tools for making healthier food choices while deepening their understanding of food systems, nutrition, and personal well-being. Grounded in the philosophy of “Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants,” students explore how everyday decisions impact long-term health.
The program consists of ten engaging, skill-building lessons originally structured as two-hour sessions and adaptable for in-school or afterschool settings. Each lesson combines hands-on culinary practice, food science exploration, and critical discussion—allowing students to develop real-world cooking skills while strengthening their knowledge of nutrition and healthy living.
Our flexible format allows sessions to be delivered in various time blocks, ensuring meaningful learning outcomes whether offered during the school day or in after-school programming.
